Varying conditions..
Cloud cover will continue to retreat from the region tonight as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the west. The ridge will bring fair skies on Tuesday, but west to southwesterly winds will strengthen in response to a trough of low pressure passing to the north. Temperatures will also turn significantly milder on over locations where winds blow off the land, while cooler conditions will persist in areas exposed to the marine influence.
Cloud will return Tuesday night in advance of the next approaching trough. Some shower activity can be expected on Wednesday in association with this feature.

Altered schedule. Ice. Please be advised due to changing ice conditions and forecasted high winds over the next few days we will remain on winter schedule until May 8th. LMI will assess daily. All reserved traffic including commercial has been moved to early departures and email confirmations will be sent. A gale warning is in effect for tomorrow, May 6th. Cancellations are likely. An update on tomorrow’s crossings will be available by 0615. High SW winds are forecast for May 7th and high NE winds for May 8th. Delays or cancellations are possible. Monitor NL 511 for updates.
